Meet Dr. Rohani
DR. ROHANI M.D. M.ENGR.
Pooyan Rohani, M.D., M.Engr., is a fellowship-trained Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgeon and board-certified dermatologist specializing in the surgical and non-surgical management of skin cancers in addition to other dermatologic conditions.
Dr. Rohani began his medical education on a merit-based scholarship to attend Vanderbilt School of Medicine where he graduated with top honors as an inductee of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He then received specialty training in dermatology at Harvard Medical School managing patients at Harvard’s leading teaching hospitals such as Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital, and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. As a resident, his mentors included preeminent experts and innovators in the fields of dermatology, dermatologic surgery, and laser physics. Dr. Rohani then pursued further sub-specialty training by completing a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery, facial reconstruction, laser surgery, and cosmetic procedures at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Rohani brings a unique background and skill set to the management of his patients. Prior to attending medical school, he graduated summa cum laude with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biomedical engineering from Texas A&M University. He then worked for several years as an engineer on advanced medical technologies in which specific emphasis was placed on precision, problem solving, and attention to functionality. As a Mohs surgeon focused on the management of skin cancers, Dr. Rohani relies on his extensive medical training in addition to this unique background as an engineer to deliver outstanding results. These skills are particularly important when he performs complex removal and reconstruction surgery on cancerous growth affecting cosmetically sensitive areas on the head and neck where precise planning and meticulous operation are critical to excellent functional and aesthetic outcomes. His goal is to deliver the gold standard among available treatment options for each of his patients and to manage the individual’s specific needs in a compassionate and caring manner.
Dr. Rohani is committed to advancing the field of dermatologic oncology so that more patients can benefit from superior treatment options. He has given numerous lectures at national and international conferences as well as grand rounds at top medical institutions in the world. He has authored dozens of peer-reviewed journal articles and research posters presented in distinguished forums in the fields of dermatology, head and neck surgery, and plastic surgery. He particularly enjoys teaching medical students and medical residents in the course of their education. He is delighted to have returned to Texas to practice medicine where his own higher education began and where many of his longtime friends and family members live.

“Thank you for taking the time to learn about my background. My sub-specialty is focused on treating patients with skin cancer. In many cases, skin cancers cause additional anxiety beyond their inherent medical risk due to the involvement of cosmetically sensitive areas such as parts of the face. Whether on the face or on the rest of the body, I am deeply familiar with the angst that a new diagnosis of skin cancer may cause. If I have the privilege of taking care of your medical needs, I will draw upon years of training and experience to compassionately provide high-quality, individualized care to achieve the best outcome possible for you.”
